Do you have prior experience investing in commercial real estate syndications before signing up with The Real Estate Physician?
No – my main barrier was knowledge. I simply was not familiar with real estate and had done investments through a financial advisor (whom I no longer use) that consisted of a couple of annuities (Yikes! I know – a mistake) and mutual funds/IRAs.
After reading several books on real estate and the path to FIRE (financial independence, retire early) as well as learning from several social media finance groups and BiggerPockets, I was interested in passive real estate investments. I started to further expand my knowledge base to cover real estate syndications and was pleased at the returns, tax benefits from depreciation, and the lack of having to deal with headaches of being a landlord.
What advice or suggestions do you have for physicians interested in commercial real estate syndications?
I strongly suggest reading a lot about it and talking to other investors who have had experiences with syndications (both good and bad). There are a lot of crowdfunding opportunities online, but I prefer the customer service of a private syndicator/sponsor rather than a website.
